NEW ALBUM - WRITING STRATEGIES

Hello all!  The Violence Inherent in the System is recording a new album, so let’s talk about some of our writing strategies. 

This album is a bit of a departure from our members’ former projects, which often featured all kinds of layered electronic sounds.  Our new paradigm centers around a certain minimalism, where every piece is written to be played by a 4-5 piece ensemble.  By limiting the amount of parts, each instrument holds more responsibility for its functional place in the piece - leading to deeper and more detailed part writing.

This photo shows every instrument used on the album!  - Keys/Piano, Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Synth, Drums/Percussion, and a couple mics for vocals.  The full-length (~15 tracks) album is coming soon!  Until then, keep an eye out for new songs we’ll be releasing as music videos!
